Original Specifications
  • Dimensions: LOA 25' 10", LWL 20', Beam 7' 6", Draft 3' 10"
  • Displacement 2.7 tons<
  • Four berths in two cabins, galley, wardrobe, bucket lavatory (on original boats!). Headroom 5ft
  • Clinker built, mahogany on oak timbers. Larch deck beams and plywood deck.
  • Iron ballast keel, 1.22 tons
  • Engine, when fitted these were originally a Stuart Turner 4 HP
  • Total Sail Area: 338sq ft (main & genoa)

  • Built at Tucker Brown and 6 supporting yards, mainly based in East Anglia, but production also took place on South coast and on Clyde.
  • First Stella built in 1959 (La Vie en Rose)
  • Cost in 1959 was £1,260
  • 102 Stella's were built overall.
